Some people don’t start investing until they’re planning for retirement – but Stephen started young, saving earnings from mowing lawns and cleaning a bakery whilst still at school in England.
On leaving school, Stephen moved into retail management, but was soon head-hunted as a result of his abilities. In 1983, Stephen became a financial adviser to combine his desire to help others with his decision-making skills and finance experience. After working in an advisory role with the (then) largest insurance and investment company in the UK, he was again head-hunted to work with a large independent financial advice group before migrating to New Zealand with his partner, Patricia, in 1993.
After settling in Wellington, he founded what was to later become the Milestone Financial Services Group. Authorised to provide financial advice and investment planning services, Stephen guides people to places of which they normally only dream. He’s spent many years helping professionals, particularly from the medical field, and migrants to focus on becoming financially free and securing their most valuable assets.
Approachable and meticulous in everything he does, Stephen believes in openness and ethics in business. His service is unique, and his clients love how Stephen aims to create certainty in an uncertain world.
Away from work, Stephen enjoys spending time with his two children, helping in sports administration, socialising with friends and aiding the community through his involvement with Rotary International and other charities. When the sun shines, you might find him driving his classic car, or else he’s likely to be travelling, tramping, or following sports – especially motorsports.

With nearly three decades in the financial industry, Tony is truly an expert in his field. With an original aim of becoming an accountant, while studying he worked for the Education Department at Wellington Polytechnic in their Finance Division, learning about internal audit, financial analysis, operations, and budgetary controls – skills he still uses today to evaluate the efficiency of companies.
In the late 80s and early 90s, Tony spent over a decade with National Mutual (later AXA) Funds Management, first in office administration and then as their Equities Dealer. There, he learnt all about funds management and the importance of asset allocation, diversification and security selection, as well as the need to research data thoroughly.
Throughout the 2000s, he joined JP Morgan as a proprietary trader, and then Macquarie Private Wealth as an investment adviser for wealthy clients, before joining Milestone in 2011.
While he’s passionate about the share markets, Tony most enjoys helping clients to make the right choices with their investment portfolios. The challenge of finding undervalued companies is always a thrill – as is sharing their story with clients and helping them understand what makes the financial markets tick. Using goal-based investing, Tony assists his clients by creating well-constructed financial portfolios and and allow them to live their dreams.
Married to Sue, Tony has four children – Taylor, Kelly, Jordyn, and Luke. Work and family fill most of his time, but in his odd spare moment Tony is off at the golf course, getting involved with local football club Western Suburbs, or spending time in the garden.
Hayley is the newest member to join Milestone Wellington, she has previously worked in an adviser support role. Hayley has always had a passion for economics and completed her degree in applied economics through extramural studies with Massey University in 2015.
Hayley’s pervious position was with a company that provides investment research, custodian wrap service, compliance and support to authorised financial advisers. It was while she was working with them that she decided to pursue being an Authorised Financial Adviser.
Before finding her feet in a career in financial advice Hayley has had the opportunity to try a few interesting careers from ski patrolling in New Zealand to zip-line guiding in Canada. As well as working for a chartered accountants office while completing her degree.
Hayley is very client focused and enjoys using a goal based approach to finding the right investment solution for her clients. Hayley will incorporate her client’s values into the investment solution whether it be sustainability, socially responsibility or philanthropy.
Away from work, Hayley enjoys spending time with her dog and family. You will find her mountain biking, spearfishing, boating and hiking, with the dog in tow on most adventures.
