Stephen Collier’s first career began in the UK with the British Police Force, where he honed his skills in investigation and clear communication, both essential skills in his future career in the investment sector.
Stephen spent 13 years as a Senior Sergeant, working with both city and rural communities and dealing with every aspect of life. After postings to corruption investigations and surveillance units, Stephen ran the Force’s communication centre, responsible for the command and control of all major incidents, with a resource of 3,000 officers.
However, seven years as a single parent to two young boys, and the need to keep more regular hours, encouraged Stephen to seek a change. In his second career he used the rigid disciplines of running a police command centre in retail management for a prestigious supermarket company in the south of England.
After marrying Sian, the family moved to New Zealand in 1999 and settled in Wanganui, where it was time for Stephen to make another career shift. He retrained and entered the financial services industry as a financial planner, soon becoming a shareholder in Wanganui Investment Brokers Ltd, the company that has since evolved into Milestone. Today, he spends his days getting to know his clients – guiding them to achieve their financial goals and make the right financial decisions.
A risk adviser for the last 11 years, Sarah was head-hunted back to Milestone Financial Services (Central) Ltd as the ideal person to fill the role of Risk (Insurance) Adviser after several years with the company. She had headed over to Ireland in 2005 with husband Mark, who was contracted to play rugby in Galway, but after 18 months and two rugby seasons, risk insurance was calling Sarah back to New Zealand, so they packed up their life there and came home.
After returning to Milestone, she quickly established herself as one of the most competent insurance advisers in the region and has since become the Managing Director and Senior Risk Adviser of the business.
Sarah is absolutely passionate about the wellbeing of her clients. It’s a theme that runs through her entire life, from multiple qualifications (including the highest qualification in the insurance industry) to continued ongoing professional development. She is proactive about ensuring she is compliant, honest to a fault, and always follows best practice standards.
A born and bred Patea/Waverley girl, Sarah is keen to provide professional service to the locals she really feels at home with. She thrives on pressure, loves a good challenge and has a natural empathy, which adds enormous value to her clients’ relationships
