Stephen Fitzjohn was educated at Wisbech Grammar School in Cambridgeshire, England and started investing, whilst still at school, by saving earnings from mowing lawns and cleaning a bakery.
On leaving school, Stephen moved into retail management and became head-hunted as a result of his abilities. In 1983, Stephen moved his career to that of a financial adviser by combining his desire to help others with decisions and finance, using a planning process that can take people to places of which they normally only dream.
After working in an advisory role with, what was then the largest insurance and investment company in the UK, Stephen was again head-hunted to work with a large independent financial advice group in their Lincoln office.
Stephen and his partner, Patricia migrated to New Zealand in 1993, settling in Wellington and later founding what was to become the Milestone Financial Services Group. Stephen is an Authorised Financial Adviser, Associate Financial Planner and has also gained the Post Graduate Diploma in Personal Financial Planning (Waikato). He is authorised to provide Financial Advice and Investment Planning Services. Stephen has spent many years helping professionals, particularly from the medical field, and migrants to focus on becoming financially free and securing their most valuable assets.
Approachable and meticulous in everything he does Stephen believes in openness and ethics in business. His service is unique and people love that because Stephen aims to create certainty in an uncertain world. Stephen enjoys spending time away from work with his two children, helping in sports administration, socialising with friends and aiding the community through his involvement with Rotary International and other charities. Other interests are travel, tramping, following sports, in particular motorsports, and driving his classic car (when the sun shines).
Tony has recently joined Milestone with 23 years experience in the finance industry and is based in the Lower Hutt office, servicing clients in Wellington and throughout New Zealand.
Born in Christchurch and educated at Shirley Boys High School, Tony moved to Wellington in 1980 for job opportunities and with visions of becoming an accountant. He studied at Wellington Polytechnic for his accountancy papers whilst being employed by the Education Department working in their Finance Division. "I was very fortunate to be placed in their four areas of finance learning about internal audit, financial analysis, regional operations and budgetary controls.
After becoming interested in the share market through his personal trading, Tony decided to pursue his long standing interests in the financial industry. In October 1987, he joined National Mutual (later AXA) Funds Management, spending 5 years in back office administration and 7 years in the front office as their Equities Dealer. "It was here I learnt the most about funds management and the importance of asset allocation, diversification and security selection through well research data." In 2000, Tony joined international broker, JP Morgan, as their NZ proprietary trader and in 2002, Macquarie Private Wealth as an investment adviser managing personal wealth portfolios.
Tony is married to Sue and they have four children, Taylor, Kelly, Jordyn and Luke. Work and his family take up most of his time, but Tony enjoys reading, gardening, and most sports but in particular football and golf.
Tony is an Authorised Financial Adviser (AFA) and like all members of the Milestone team he takes every opportunity to participate in industry seminars and conferences to maintain his skill and keep up with current industry developments.
